In a wall assembly, the main channel, also known as a C-Channel, is fitted to the ceiling and the floor to effectively hold the studs in place. Drywall furring channels are commonly clipped with metal furring channel clips or wire-tied perpendicular to the main channel at appropriate intervals for screw-attaching drywall. The underside of bar joists can be directly attached to a furring channel. The furring channels are installed perpendicular to the joists and wire-tied at appropriate intervals.
